Can someone tell me all about UFC and Tapout?
Like, what does "Tapout" have to do with UFC? Who's good fighters, all that kind of stuff. I'm only a teenage girl but I'm so interested! So can anyone fill me in? Thanks! :]
TapouT is probably the largest MMA clothing brand in North America. Many MMA fighters are sponsored by TapouT. A "tap out" is also a way to signal that one has had enough and wants to quit the fight, and does so by tapping his opponent or the mat. This is usually done when in a submission hold. The clothing brand took their name from the action.
The UFC is the largest MMA promotion in North America, and probably the world. Top fighters include Frank Mir, Brock Lesnar, Randy Couture, Rashad Evans, Quinton "Rampage" Jackson, Forrest Griffin, Thiago Silva, Lyoto Machida, Chuck Liddell, Wanderlei Silva, Keith Jardine, Rich Franklin, Dan Henderson, Nate Marquardt, Anderson Silva, Rousimar Palhares, Georges St-Pierre, Thiago Alves, Josh Koscheck, Marcus Davis, Karo Parisyan, BJ Penn, Kenny Florian, Sean Sherk, and Frankie Edgar.
Good fighters outside the UFC include Fedor Emelianenko (the top Heavyweight in the world), Josh Barnett, Andrei Arlovski, Benji Radach, Gregard Mousasi, Melvin Manhoef, Cung Le, Ricardo Arona, Aleksander Emelianenko, Mirko Crocop, Alistair Overeem, Antonio Silva, Urijah Faber, Miguel Torres, Robbie Lawler, Carlos Condit, Jens Pulver, Takanori Gomi, Shinya Aoki, Masakazu Imanari, and Renato "Babalu" Sobral.
There are also female fighters such as Cris "Cyborg" Santos, Tara Larosa, Shayna Baszler, Rosi Sexton, Gina Carano, Megumi Fuji, and Windy Tomomi.
You can find most of these fighters on Youtube, either in highlights or in full fights. The rules are different for some MMA organizations: some will allow you to kick, knee, or stomp the head of an opponent who is on the ground, some will outlaw elbows, some earlier matches were bare knuckle, some allowed head-butts, and so on. It's very tempting to sit here and give you a complete history of MMA, but that would take up too much time.
