imo i’d rather beat … imo i’d rather beat somebody up than wrestle somebody down. i had 5 years of martial arts and for me it is about mental growth through the art and real life practice through sparring. what it really comes down to is mental growth, not how one art form can take down the other weather it be by submission or knockout.
This is an insult … This is an insult to any true jiu-jitsu trained individual. We don’t fly at an opponent and get dropped like a brick. We utilize Judo throws and then murder anyone once on the ground however we please. This video is a joke.
It’s funny that … It’s funny that some people are saying how this is a demonstration . But this is how they actually practice aikido with one guy doing a simplistic retard style attack on the guy who twists his wrist and make the retard fly. uke = punching bag . and if all you train on in your style is a punching bag you are gonna be in for a big bad surprise should you ever encounter the real thing.

“Judo is effective, yes, but it is more of a sport now, losing the emphasis on self defense that it once had.”
Wrong. judo was created as a sport and never had self defense as a focus how ever it can be use as such.
“judo is god for brute strength”
Wrong. Although judo can be amplified by strength it is more about technique.
my instructor … my instructor missed the point? of what my asking is it A or is it B? Yeah ok i misunderstood and he missed the point. Anything to justify a highly dubious fighting style that’s what i found with most aikido people. The unwilling opponent he was referring to was the opponent you face in any effective martial art unlike the one you practice with in aikido. Unlike an uke someone on the street isn’t use simple 1 move predictable attacks and let you toss them around and. Sorry 4 the bubble burst
I misunderstood … I misunderstood what he said? I asked him if i want to be able to defend myself in real life should i study aikido or judo and he said (once again point blank) judo. simple question simple answer no misunderstanding.
The other thing … The other thing being that judo is more of a competitive martial art, where aikido is more practical. Aikido was used as a mode of self defense against random attacks, armed or unarmed, and with a single or multiple opponents. Judo is effective, yes, but it is more of a sport now, losing the emphasis on self defense that it once had. I have no doubt your instructor (sensei or Sempai) is skilled, but you must have misunderstood what he was saying.
I must say that … I must say that after studying Aikido, that your instructor missed the point. Aikido should not BE used against an unwilling opponent, because that means you are attacking. If someone attacks you, Aikido is about using the force of their attack to bring it around your center and neutralizing it. Judo just requires more strength. So what your instructor meant to say, is that judo is god for brute strength, but Aikido is good always, because you cannot lose if you contend with nothing.
I studied aikido … I studied aikido and judo both for 2 years at the same school . My instructor had a 5th dan in aikido and a 3rd dan in judo. I asked him one day point blank if I want to be able to protect myself in a real situation which one should I study if I only have time for one. And he said point blank Judo. As he explained. aikido is good but judo has the factors of practicing against an unwilling and unpredictable opponent as you would find in in a real life situation.
L’Aikido è una … L’Aikido è una grande arte marziale, trasformata negli anni come robetta filosofica non si sa per quale motivo, dove gli allenamenti seri per diventare forti in un combattimento reale, sono stati sostituiti da danzette per spettacoli!!
LOL at acedudeone. … LOL at acedudeone. Unfortunatly Akidoists have a guy simulating an attack and this is what it looks like. Lapel grabs and attacks like yokomenuchi (wide arm swing) so on and so forth. Its a practice to learn the flow of akido. But no its not a real fight. This is a training exercise and unfortunatly people think its real fighting. I trained in akido, Mauy Thay, Tae Kwon do, Jujitsu and kickboxing. Trust me this is not real fighitng. But some of thier techniques are to die for though.
Is this some form … Is this some form of gymnastics routine? if so I give it a 10. If this is a fight I have to use the crapper before I continue the comment.
